Hello family and friends, welcome to our new blog. On September 5, 2007 our next big adventure will begin as we will arrive to our new home for the next few years: Edinburgh, Scotland. After a long process, and considering many options regarding our future, Derek decided to accept an offer to take up a PhD post at the University of Edinburgh. He will be working with Dr. Larry W. Hurtado (a world renown New Testament scholar) on the topic of the use of the OT Psalms in the development of NT Christology. This research project will take at least three years and will eventually result in a 100,000 word (3oo+pages) dissertation. It will be a lot of work, but Derek is excited for the opportunity to work with such an excellent scholar at a great university.
Since we are moving far, far away from so many of you, we decided that we would join forces to keep you better updated on our life, our move to Scotland, and soon, our new adventure of living in Edinburgh. It is a busy and exciting time and we hope to keep you well informed. The site is still undergoing some maintenance but have a look around, check out the different links and let us know if you don’t see something that you would like to see. Also notice the link to our web album on the side bar, which will be frequently updated.
Prior to making the big move over the Atlantic we will be home in Oregon for most of the month of August. We are looking forward to a month of downtime before life becomes crazy again. We will be in Bend most of this time, but visits to Portland and Eugene are definitely in order.
